Restored but unreformed
Then everyone who trembled at the words of the God of Israel gathered around me because of this unfaithfulness of the exiles. And I sat there appalled until the evening sacrifice.
Ezra 9:4
People's feet can get into a different, new or better place; while their hearts are unchanged.
People can see and experience and believe in God's acts, but not know God's ways.
Someone can be in the crowd or the audience but not be a disciple.
Matthew Henry quote on this verse: "Disbelief of God's all-sufficiency, is at the bottom of the sorry shifts we make to help ourselves. They exposed themselves and their children to the peril of idolatry, that had ruined their church and nation."
