My Word for 2020, Twenty Years Back to Twenty Years Forward

He again specifies a certain day—today. He specified this speaking through David after such a long time: Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.
-Hebrews 4:7

I believe this year is a year when misfortunes, missed opportunities, things stolen or lost; are going to come back.

It is not too late.  It is still God's 'today'.  This is still God's time.

Your promise, your word, must be integrated into you.  You can't just hear it with your head, but it has to become who you are, through your heart.

"I heard that", is not enough.  You must believe and act.  What you heard God say, you must stake your life on and give yourself wholly to it.

Because we are entering into 2020, I got this idea that God wants to take the promise he gave us 20 years ago, activated it this year, and launch us into the next 20 years.  I got the idea that the longer the wait, the longer your trajectory will be.  Somebody might remember a promise from God that they heard in 1990 or 2010.

The exact years or numbers don't matter.  What matters is that you have been waiting and time has gone by.  What God says is that He has not passed you by and that He is still willing to bless you.

That is what the writer of Hebrews is saying, that it is not too late.  Soften your heart.  Believe in God.  Believe He can do anything.  He can make a way where there is no way

That is what He is going to do for you in 202, because that is what God does.

Life has not passed you by.  God is going to bless you.  But will you be ready?  Get ready.

Soften our hearts Lord.

Repent of what you need to repent of.  Become a child again.  Humble yourself and see what God will do.

Don't judge God.  Open your heart again.

You don't have it figured out, how it will happen, what God will do.  Our job is to soften our hearts.

The promise remains, but we must beware, we must be careful that we do not disqualify ourselves.

And we can disqualify ourselves through disobedience.  And the disobedience here is to simply not believe, to have a hard heart.

The issue is with our hearts.  It's about rest.  Rest your whole confidence in God.  Can you sleep in God's arms while He fulfills His dream for your life?

You might have to adapt your theology to believing in a God who works in your life instead of a distant God, waiting on the other side.

One of my favorite prayers is, "I don't know, but I trust you".

God doesn't ask us to know what's going to happen or how we are going to do it.  But He asks us to trust Him.  Really believe and act on that belief in how you think and live.

The paradox of receiving the promise is that we enter God's rest.  Trust and obey.  A window of opportunity is open again that can be missed.
